Sailing into a Winter Wonderland
This Saturday, December 10th, we are embarking on a journey to visit the Rhine Castles and Swiss Alps on a river cruise with AmaWaterways. This is not my first Christmas Market Cruise; this journey happens every two years with Fitzgerald Travel. This year is extra special to our group. Originally slated for December 2020 & then again in December 2021, both cancelled due to the world pandemic. We fly on Saturday to Amsterdam with a full heart!
Winter cruising warms your heart
A winter river cruise in Europe is probably a cruise you haven’t envisioned yourself taking. Who in their right mind takes a cruise when it is so cold out? I do and this is my why.
Winter River cruising is a blast! It is that very sweet spot of the year for all the river cruise companies. It’s a very joyful and beautiful season onboard the vessel and off the vessel. Christmas is everywhere. It feels good.
It’s the time of year to let down barriers, breathe in life a little slower, reflect, and mostly to be thankful. Everyone needs a little winter cruise for so many different reasons.
Reset & Reconnect
I take a winter cruise every two years to fill my heart with joy and happiness. You don’t have to look far too find love in the smiles of humans, to hear laughter in children and to fill your senses with magical visions and the spicy scents of gingerbread and warm glühwein. A Christmas Market cruise is a perfect friends get-a-way!

Comfort & Joy
A leisurely glide from Amsterdam to Basel Switzerland in a well-appointed stateroom on board the AmaSerena, three delicious freshly prepared meals a day, onboard entertainment, included choices of tours to only enhance the experience and wine and beer with dinner? Gently moving from town to town to really be exposed to all kinds of Christmas Markets. The whole experience is truly effortless and comforting to know that I don’t have to do anything to make the magic happen, AmaWaterways does!
